A water pipe with a body having an upper portion and a lower portion. The upper portion has an internal tobacco bowl with an opening through which tobacco is inserted into the tobacco bowl. The lower portion has a tapered cylindrical plug having an insertion end. A smoke inlet passage extends from the tobacco bowl to a first lower port at the insertion end of the plug. A smoke outlet passage extends from a second lower port at the insertion end of the plug to an outlet port. The water pipe is converted for use in smoking cigarettes or as a conventional pipe through the use of either a cigarette conversion member or a pipe conversion member.
