Concentrated liquid and solid lubricating compositions having superior compatibility with synthetic polymeric pack- aging materials, such as polyethylene terephthalate (PET), linear high density polyethylene (LHDPE), polystyrene, poly- meric coated papers, and the like, can include 1 to 50 wt% of a fatty acid diamine salt having the formula ((R1)(R2)N(R5)NH(R3)(R4)]+(R6COO)- or [(R1)(R2)NH(R5)NH(R3)(R4)]++(R6COO)2- wherein R1 is a C10-18 aliphatic group; R2, R3, and R4 are independently hydrogen or an alkoxy group containing one to five alkylene oxide units; R5 is a C1-5 alkylene group; and R6 is a C10-18 aliphatic group. The lubricating compositions are particularly useful on the load bearing surfaces of conveyor belts used in the bottling of carbonated beverages in polyethylene terephthalate bottles.
