A conveyor (10, 11) which includes a conveyor frame (14, 15) for supporting a chain (12, 13) for slidable movement thereon, and having an end (18, 19). A chain is (12, 13) slidably supported by the frame (14, 15) and wraps around the end (18, 19). A nose bar (28) is mounted to the conveyor end (18), and has an edge (36) extending away from the frame (14). An insert (42) is mounted to the nose bar edge (36) and has wear material slidably engaging the chain (12).
