Abstract of the Disclosure The invention relates to an apparatus for heating substances, mainly for preparing hot foods, and to an insert, adapted to be used in conjunction with the apparatus, for the accommodation of the substance to be heated. The disposable insert, containing the uncooked food, can be introduced into the container of the apparatus. The insert contains the elec- trically conducting heating plate which is made of metal foil, for example, and encloses the food. When in the container, the said heating plate comes into electrical connection with contacts connected to the source of electrical power and thus heats up. The insert thus bakes, boils or heats the food.
