ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A microwave oven has a door movable to open and closed positions, a latch for releasably securing the door in the closed position, an electrical circuit including a microwave generator for performing a microwave heating operation, a control switch connected in the electrical circuit to enable energization of the microwave generator means and a heating control member actuatable for initia- ting the heating operation, the control switch being actuated to perform the heating operation only in response to both the actuation of the heating control member and location of the door in the closed position, whereby the control switch functions as both a safety switch and a heating control switch.
