ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE There is described a cooking appliance such as a microwave oven which is programmable to conduct a series of cooking operations automatically and which may also be programmed to terminate the automatic operations and announce to an operator that a particular manual operation, such as turning or seasoning, is to be performed. Upon completion of the manual operation, the operator reactivates the oven whereupon automatic operations are recommenced and continued until such time as the food is either completely cooked or until it is time to perform the next manual step.
