A cookware system includes a cooking vessel, a multipurpose cookware cover for covering the cooking vessel and serving food prepared in the vessel, and a storage lid engageable with the cookware cover to seal in food placed in the cookware cover for storage. The multipurpose cookware cover includes a support member that extends from the cover body and terminates in a plurality of contact points disposed in a common plane. Thus, when the cookware cover is inverted and set upon a flat surface for use as a serving dish or storage container, the contact surfaces of the support member contact the flat surface and prevent the cookware cover from wobbling. The body of the multipurpose cookware cover may be made of a plastic material. A heat-resistant rim disposed about the peripheral edge of the cover body insulates the cover body from heat that may be conducted through a cooking vessel.
