A coolable lining for a high-temperature gasification reactor, especially in the zone of a replaceable lower furnace, in which the refractory brickwork receives the melting liquid occurring in the melting operation during the gasification of household, industrial and special wastes. The refractory material, consisting of oxides of non-noble metals, is pierced at defined intervals by straight channels, into which it is possible to insert cooling elements that can be installed and removed from the outside.
