A fluid sensor for heat exchanger system includes a supporting device such as a tubular hose fitting for mounting the sensor in the system so that heat exchanging fluid circulated in the system comes into contact with the sensor. A window or sight glass is mounted in or on the supporting device. A visual indicator such as a coloured ball can be viewed through the sight glass. The indicator has a corrodible opaque coating thereon and is located so that the heat exchange fluid contacts the coating during use of the sensor. The indicator changes its colour when the coating is at least partially removed by corrosion caused by the heat exchanging fluid. The sensor can include structure for restraining movement of the object or ball in the sensor.
