COOLED AIR INLET TUBE FOR A GAS TURBINE COMBUSTOR ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An air inlet tube for directing combustion air to the primary zone of a gas turbine combustion chamber is shown. The tube has a stepped configuration defined by a shortened wall spaced outwardly from the downstream facing wall of the main air inlet tube to provide a slot for directing a layer of air over the inwardly projecting downstream wall of the tube to protect this portion and the vulnerable downstream edge of the tube from contact with the hot gases in the combustor.
