ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention provides a method of reducing emission of sound, mist, and vapours in cooling a rolled metal product by means of a cooling installation including an apparatus comprising two hollow caissons arranged one inside the other and rigidly connected together to constitute a unit adapted to be located adjacent the product surface and to extend across the said path, each caisson having a plurality of holes in a wall which is to face the said path, each hole of the outer caisson being paired with a hole of the inner caisson, the pair of holes being in coaxial alignment, a coolant sprayer being fixed in each pair of holes, the dimensions of the outer caisson being such that it can be placed between two successive rolls carrying the rolled product, said apparatus being disposed in a tunnel, comprising closing the ends of the tunnel by means of a continuous water curtain whose inner face is in contact with the edge of the end of the tunnel along its entire periphery, the said edge neither projecting through the said curtain nor being out of contact with it at any point.
