COOLING SYSTEM USING AN OIL-IN-ALCOHOL-CONTAINING CONSOLUTE ANTIFREEZE COMPOSITION ABSTRACT A method of and apparatus for cooling an internal combustion engine with an oil-in-alcohol containing consolute antifreeze composition. The antifreeze composition is a consolute antifreeze composition having a cloud point of at least about 40°C, whereby when the temperature of the antifreeze is raised to at least the cloud point of 40°C, the oil in the consolute antifreeze composition becomes insoluble. The insoluble oil separates from the antifreeze composition and coats the metal surfaces of the internal combustion engine, thereby imparting a corrosion inhibition property to said antifreeze composition with respect to said metal surface.
