A scanning system is calibrated (310) to correct for possible panel (315) misalignments errors. A reference slide or data point is used to obtain a series of measurements with the scanning system. These measurements are compared with the expected results to determine systematic alignment errors in the scanning system. A model is created to correct the alignment errors during the scanning process, thus providing a plurality of more accurate scans. The plurality of scans may then be assembled to create a complete image of the scan area.

Un point de données ou curseur de référence permet d'obtenir une série de mesures au moyen du système de balayage. Ces mesures sont comparées aux résultats attendus afin de déterminer les erreurs d'alignement systématiques dans le système de balayage. Un modèle est créé afin de corriger les erreurs d'alignement pendant le processus de balayage, produisant ainsi une pluralité de balayages plus précis. Ces balayages peuvent ensuite être assemblés afin d'obtenir une image complète de la zone de balayage.
