The present invention relates to a method for diagnosing chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in a human subject or the risk of a human subject to develop COPD comprising the steps of: - providing a sample from a human subject, - determining the amount of caspase-cleaved cytokeratin- 18 (ccCK-18), histones, heat shock protein 27 (HSP27), heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) and/or heat shock protein 90 alpha (HSP90 alpha) in said sample, - diagnosing COPD when the amount of ccCK-18, histones, HSP27, HSP70 and/or HSP90 alpha is increased compared to the amount of ccCK-18, histones, HSP27, HSP70 and/or HSP90 alpha in healthy human subjects, or - diagnosing the risk to develop COPD when the amount of ccCK- 18, histones and/or HSP70 is reduced compared to the amount of ccCK-18, histones and/or HSP70 in healthy human subjects.

La présente invention concerne une méthode de diagnostic de bronchopneumopathie chronique obstructive (BPCO) chez un sujet humain ou du risque pour un sujet humain de développer une BPCO, comportant les étapes consistant à : - se procurer un échantillon prélevé chez un sujet humain, - déterminer la quantité de la cytokératine 18 clivée par la caspase (ccCK-18), des histones, de la protéine de choc thermique 27 (HSP27), de la protéine de choc thermique 70 (HSP70) et/ou de la protéine de choc thermique 90 alpha (HSP90 alpha) dans ledit échantillon, - diagnostiquer une BPCO lorsque la quantité de ccCK-18, des histones, de HSP27, de HSP70 et/ou de HSP90 alpha est augmentée par rapport à la quantité de ccCK-18, des histones, de HSP27, de HSP70 et/ou de HSP90 alpha chez des sujets humains en bonne santé, ou - diagnostiquer le risque de développer une BPCO lorsque la quantité de ccCK-18, des histones et/ou de HSP70 est réduite par rapport à la quantité de ccCK-18, des histones et/ou de HSP70 chez des sujets humains en bonne santé.
