ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: The present invention relates to copolymers which can be employed as bonding agents between polymers and inorganically oxidic material. They are distinguished by a reactive alkoxysilyl group and an acrylic or methacrylic acid residue. Each of these two groupings is connected at a fundamental structural unit with two chain C-atoms respec- tively, with this fundamental structural unit being built up on a compound with an ethylenically unsaturated group as monomer. The ratio of the alkoxysilyl groups to the acrylic or methacrylic acid residues in the new copolymers can assume any desired ratio, for example as a result of the copolymers being copolymerised with further compounds with ethylenically unsaturated groups which do not possess the desired residues. The present invention also relates to a process for the preparation of these new copolymers, as well as intermediate products which are obtained in this preparation as hitherto unknown products.
