ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method is described for inhibiting the formation and deposition of pitch particles in pulp and paper making operations by the addition of a copolymeric composition in sufficient amounts to reduce the tackiness of and to disperse the particles. The composition is a copolymer of a sulfonic acid monomer such as 2-acrylamido- 2-methylpropanesulfonic acid or the like and either acrylic acid or methacrylic acid, or water-soluble salts thereof.
