Copolymerizable benzophenone photoinitiators of the formula I (see fig. I) wherein l, k = 0, 1 , 2. R1 =divalent organic group having 1 to 25 carbon atoms; R2 = H or methyl; and R3, R4 = organic group having 1 to 25 carbon atoms. X, Y = hydrogen, halogen or (C1 - C25) groups containing N, S, and/or O; and method of making the photoinitiators. The photoinitiators overcome the leaching problem with prior photoinitiators in radiation curable polymer applications. Radiation curable polymers, cured polymers, and coated articles are also disclosed.

R1 correspond à un groupe organique divalent de 1 à 25 atomes de carbone; R2 est un H ou un groupe méthyle; et R3 et R4 correspondent à un groupe organique de 1 à 25 atomes de carbone. X et Y sont un hydrogène, un halogène ou des groupes en C1-C25 contenant N, S et/ou O; et une méthode de fabrication de ces photoinitiateurs. Ces photoinitiateurs permettent de surmonter le problème de lixiviation rencontré avec les photoinitiateurs antérieurs dans les applications pour polymères à cuisson par rayonnement. On divulgue également des polymères à cuisson par rayonnement, des polymères cuits et des objets ainsi revêtus.
