Abstract: The invention relates to electrically conductive copolymers and blends of polymers with conjugated .pi. systems with conventional non-conductive polymers carrying isolated redox-active groups. In more detail, the copolymers and blends are essentially composed of polymeric Components (A) without conjugated .pi. systems and polymeric components (B) with conjugated .pi. systems, wherein the Component (A) contains redox-active groups which possess an active potential in oxidized or reduced states, which is sufficient for the oxidation or reduction of the Component B. The new materials thus produced have specific electrical, electrochemical and chemical properties, combined with thermoplastic process- ibility and a behavior typical of plastics.
