Disclosed are copolymers based on aspartic acid or its precursor molecules and methods of their production. The copolymers are water-soluble over a wide range of composition and molecular weight. Their preparation involves conversion of a polysuccinimide to copolymers of defined composition, containing aspartate and succinimide residues and/or residues of asparagine. In particular, the copolymers include water-soluble terpolymers of aspartate, asparagine, and succinimide.

L'invention concerne des copolymères à base d'acide aspartique ou de ces molécules précurseurs, ainsi que leurs procédés de préparation. Ces copolymères sont hydrosolubles dans une gamme étendue de composition et de poids moléculaire. Leur préparation consiste à convertir un polysuccinimide en copolymères de composition définie, contenant de l'aspartate et des résidus de succinimide et/ou des résidus d'asparagine. Plus particulièrement, ces copolymères contiennent des terpolymères hydrosolubles d'aspartate, d'asparagine, et de succinimide.
