Wrought copper cathode starting sheets for use in the electrolytic production of copper made preferably by continuous casting and rolling process are provided. Refined copper is melted in a shaft furnace (10) and continuously cast preferably using a twin belt horizontal caster (17) and straight line rolled in a rolling mill (18) to reduce the thickness of the casting (37) by about 25 % to 98 % to produce a sheet having a thickness of about .123 inch. After the rolling process, the continuous sheet is cut by trimmer (20) from an uncoiled sheet into discrete rectangular shapes suitable for use as a starting sheet, as a starting sheet blank or other metal sheet uses such as cladding and roofing.
La présente invention concerne des feuilles de départ pour cathodes en cuivre battu destinées à la production électrolytique de cuivre selon une technique de coulée et laminage en continu. Le procédé consiste à faire fondre du cuivre raffiné dans un four à cuve de fusion (10), et à réaliser une coulée continu en utilisant de préférence une machine de coulée horizontale (17) à bandes jumelles, puis à réaliser un laminage linéaire dans un laminoir (18) de façon à réduire l'épaisseur du feuillard dans une proportion comprise entre environ 25 % et environ 98 %, pour obtenir une tôle continue d'une épaisseur d'environ 0,123 pouces. Après le laminage, le feuillard déroulé est massicoté (20) donnant des formes rectangulaires discrètes convenant comme feuilles de départ, comme ébauches de feuilles de départ ou d'autres feuilles de métal utilisées en revêtement ou en couverture.
