ILLUMINATOR Abstract of the Disclosure An illuminator suitable for use in copying machines has an elongated envelope with a narrow lengthwise extending window through which light can pass out of the envelope. An ellipsoidal reflector is positioned at each end of the reflector. Axially mounted within the reflector is an illumination device positioned so that lines drawn from the periphery of each reflector through respective imaged foci of the device intersect at least substantially adjacent the center of the document.
