ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A cord locking device is provided for use in association with a sun-blind or the like provided with an upper beam and one or more webs of sun-blinding material folded in a zigzag line and opened or closed by means of cords. The locking device has a U-shaped member having a flat bottom and legs, with a cross-plate at one end having an inlet hole to accommodate a number of cords. Also included in the assembly is a tumbler with a pivot shaft near its upper end, which pivot shaft is journalled in the legs of the U-shaped member near the tops of the legs. The tumbler, in vertical position, substantially fills the space between the legs and bottom of the U-shaped member under the pivot axis, and the lower edge of the tumbler is spaced from the bottom by a distance smaller than the thickness of the cords, which should extend between the bottom and the lower edge. The tumbler is loaded by a member which is slidable in the cross-plate in vertical direction, and this slidable member projects a lip or the like, the free end of which may cooper- ate with the adjacent face of the tumbler to effect loading. In a portion of the slidable member, which is lying in the cross-plate, an inlet hole for the cords is provided substan- tially coinciding with the inlet hole in the cross-plate, whereby the bottoms of the inlet holes are at least partly sloping upward in opposite direction. In this way, a cord locking device is provided which will be operative for use with sun-blinds, yet can be made smaller than locking devices previously known that it can be built into an endstop of the blind, or can be affixed externally with minimal defacement.
