A cordless plug-in switched receptacle comprises a first housing having a notional axis and a pair of axially opposed end faces, with electrical prongs projecting outwardly from one of the end faces; electrical socket openings are formed in the other of the end faces, with underlying electrical contacts to form a receptacle. The first housing includes a journal surface adjacent each of the faces. A second generally hollow housing is defined in part by a pair of opposed portions, each of which has an opening therethrough forming a bearing for respective ones of the journal surfaces,with the journal surfaces and the associated bearings forming cooperating thrust bearings serving to capture the first housing axially within said second housing, and permit relative rotation of the housings. The prongs are operatively interconnected to the contacts by a switching circuit contained within the second housing, which may conveniently be actuated by a timer. In use, the housings are rotated so as to orientate the switching receptacle to a desired position for plugging into a convenience outlet.

Une des surfaces est munie de broches, qui se prolongent vers l'extérieur, tandis que l'autre surface comprend des ouvertures pour prises électriques ainsi que des contacts électriques sous-jacents pour former une prise. Le premier boîtier comprend un tourillon situé près de chacune des surfaces planes. Un deuxième boîtier essentiellement creux est délimité en partie par deux sections opposées, chacune percée d'une ouverture servant respectivement de support aux tourillons qui, avec les supports correspondants, forment des paliers de butée qui maintiennent, dans l'axe, le premier boîtier à l'intérieur du deuxième boîtier et permettent la rotation relative des boîtiers. Les broches sont mises en présence des contacts par l'entremise d'un circuit de commutation, logé dans le deuxième boîtier, pouvant, par mesure de commodité, être actionné par une minuterie. Pour utiliser la présente prise à commutation, il suffit de faire tourner les boîtiers afin d'orienter la prise de courant dans la position désirée et de l'insérer dans une prise de courant de service.
