An expandable mandrel including a threaded spindle (16) with drive means for rotating the spindle, wedge pieces (41) supported on the spindle with core chuck lugs (26) facing outwardly for engaging the inner surface of a core, the wedge pieces having outwardly facing inclined cam surfaces (33, 34), matching cam surfaces (35, 36) on the core chuck lugs to expand the core chuck lugs when the wedge pieces are moved relatively axially by the spindle, the wedge pieces and core chuck lugs being free to rotate with the spindle until locked by an annular gear (28) and a stopping rack so that the wedge pieces and core chuck lugs are held against rotation to allows the spindle to rotate relatively thereby moving the wedge pieces axially and the core chuck lugs outwardly.
Mandrin extensible, comprenant un axe fileté (16) associé à un dispositif d'entraînement servant à le faire tourner, des cales (41) supportées sur l'axe avec des pattes (26) de mandrin orientées vers l'extérieur pour venir en contact avec la surface interne d'un noyau, les cales comportant des surfaces (33, 34) de came inclinées et orientées vers l'extérieur s'appariant à des surfaces (35, 36) de came situées sur les pattes du mandrin pour écarter lesdites pattes lorsque les cales sont déplacées axialement par l'axe, les cales et les pattes du mandrin pouvant tourner librement avec l'axe jusqu'à ce qu'il soit bloqué par une roue annulaire (28) et une crémaillère d'arrêt de sorte que les cales et les pattes du mandrin soient bloqués dans leur rotation pour permettre à l'axe de tourner et de déplacer ainsi axialement les cales et les pattes du mandrin vers l'extérieur.
