Described here is a surgical device that typically is used to releasably hold the cornea of a human eye (and hence that eye) in such a way as to modestly deform the cornea and the eye, to maintain the eye's position for procedures upon the epithilial layer of the cornea, and to allow ease of replacement of an epithilial flap should one be produced. It may be used in combination with a supplemental device, such as an epithilial delaminating tool. The stabilization device permits ready access to and creation of flaps or pockets of epithelium for later introduction of correcting lenses or subtractive procedures such as LASIK or LASEK, prior to replacement of epithelium over the lens or site of laser induced or surgically-induced corrective procedure.
La présente invention concerne un dispositif chirurgical servant essentiellement à maintenir de façon libérable la cornée d'un oeil humain, et par tant l'oeil, de façon à déformer légèrement la cornée et l'oeil pour l'immobiliser dans le cas de procédures sur la couche épithéliale de la cornée, voire, le cas échéant, pour permettre de remplacer facilement le lambeau épithélial. Le dispositif de l'invention peut s'utiliser avec un autre dispositif tel qu'un outil à détacher l'épithélium. L'immobilisateur facilite la réalisation et l'accès aux lambeaux ou poches épithéliales préalablement à l'introduction de lentilles correctrices ou à des procédures soustractives de type LASIK (kératomileusie in-situ au laser) ou LASEK (kératomileusie épithéliale au laser) avant la remise en place de l'épithélium au-dessus de la lentille ou du site de procédure correctrice induite au laser ou par voir chirurgicale.
