CORONA ARC SUPPRESSION ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Halogenated organic compounds (halogen of atomic number 9-35) are employed to allow for increased corona currents without arc breakdown. Minor amounts of the halogenated organic compound are introduced into the atmosphere with air between the corona current source and the corona receptor. Particularly preferred gases are fluorochlorocarbons.
