A coronary stent comprises a tubular flexible body having walls of a web structure. The web structure defines neighbouring cells connected by joint webs. The stent has first and second cells of differing structure alternately arranged in the axial direction of the stent. In the circumferential direction neighbouring cells are of the same structure. In the non-expanded state, the first cells have folded webs at opposite sides of the cell and the second cells on all sides have folded web portions. This structure provides sufficient strength while also providing good flexibility and reliable expansion.
