The present invention provides a means to substantially decrease the pH bias that is commonly observed with pH data obtained using ion selective electrode (ISE) containing instruments that have a solvent polymeric membrane based ISE pH electrode. The pH bias is reduced by utilizing the discovery that protein induces an apparent bicarbonate ion concentration ([HCO3-]) interference. The pH bias has also been found to vary as a function of protein loading. Additionally, this protein-induced bias in membrane-based pH sensors was found to be relatively constant in the normal protein range (typically ranging from about 4 to about 8 g/dl) such that the total pH bias in this protein range is a function of ([HCO3-]). Thus, in the normal protein range, the pH bias can be corrected for by a single equation using the available ([HCO3-]) value.
L'invention concerne un moyen permettant de réduire sensiblement l'erreur de pH que l'on observe couramment avec les données de pH obtenues au moyen des instruments, contenant une électrode à membrane sélective (ISE), qui comportent une électrode à pH constituée d'une ISE à base de membrane polymère. On peut réduire cette erreur de pH en utilisant un phénomène que nous avons découvert, à savoir que les protéines entraînent une interférence apparente avec la concentration des ions bicarbonate ([HCO¿3??-¿]). L'erreur de pH varie également en fonction de la charge protéique. En outre, cette erreur induite par les protéines dans les pH-mètres à membrane est relativement constante dans la plage normale des protéines (généralement comprise entre 4 et 8 g/dl environ), de façon que l'erreur de pH totale dans cette plage est fonction de ([HCO¿3??-¿]).
