ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A correlation spectrometer directs light from the ambient atmosphere onto a light detector, a first portion of the light being directed through a reference substance and a second portion being directed onto said light detector without passage through the reference substance, whereby the light de- tector provides first and second electrical signals correspond- ing, respectively, to said first and second light portions.
