Disclosed is a cobalt-base alloy that has a valuable combination of both corrosion- and wear-resistant properties. The alloy nominally contains, in percent by weight, 25.5 chromium, 8.5 nickel, 3.0 iron, 5 molybdenum, 2 tungsten, 0.40 silicon, 0.75 manganese, 0.06 carbon, 0.08 nitrogen and the balance cobalt plus normal impurities normally found in alloys of this class. The alloy may also contain copper and certain "carbide formers" (i.e., columbium, tantalum, titanium, vanadium and the like) to tie up excess carbon and/or nitrogen that may be present.
L'objet de la présente invention est un alliage à base de cobalt combinant d'intéressantes propriétés de résistance à la corrosion et à l'usure. En pourcentage de poids, l'alliage contient essentiellement 25,5 % de chrome, 8,5 % de nickel, 3 % de fer, 5 % de molybdène, 2 % de tungstène, 0,40 % de silicium, 0,75 % de manganèse, 0,06 % de carbone et 0,08 % d'azote, la balance étant composée de cobalt et d'impuretés normalement présentes dans cette classe d'alliages. L'alliage en question peut également contenir du cuivre et certains carbures (columbium, tantale, titane, vanadium, etc.) pour lier d'éventuels excédents de carbone ou d'azote.
