ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Corrosion inhibiting pigments on the basis of zinc silicate are produced from 35-65% by weight of ZnO, 15-35% by weight of SiO2, 5-20% by weight of B2O3, and 1-20% by weight of WO3 which can be entirely or partly substituted by, MoO3 and/or SnO2 wherein the amount of zinc silicate, boron oxide and, if necessary, the other metal oxides or their hydrates singly or in a combination thereof is such that the entire combination with the zinc silicate and the boron oxide contains at least one of the oxides WO3, MoO3 and/or SnO2 in amounts bringing the balance to 100%. The pigments can be manufactured by dry mixing of the components, melting for 1-3 hours at 1100°C-1400°C and subsequent grinding to desired fineness.
