Abstract Corrosion-resistant Composite Wire and Method for Manufacturing Same The object of the invention is a corrosion-resistant composite wire with diameters of<10mm which has a concentric and homogeneous high-grade steel coating, whereby a variation of this coating by 15 - 30% by volume is possible depending on the wire diameter and application in each case and also a variation of the strength of up to < 2000 N/mm2 depending on the core wire used and degree of shaping. To manufacture a composite wire of this type, a high-strength, patented and surface-treated steel wire is, for example, sheathed when passing with a high-grade steel band. In a first shaping step, the longitudinally welded high-grade steel sheath is firmly pressed against the core wire and the composite wire is drawn to end dimensions in subsequent drawing steps. A directed annealing treatment of the composite wire takes place at least between two shaping steps by means of a rotating arc, whereby only the high-grade steel layer is heated to annealing temperature.
