A corrosion resistant plated steel strip comprises a substrate consisting of a steel strip; a principal plating layer is formed on one surface side or each of two surface sides of the steel strip substrate; a co-deposited zinc-chromium based alloy comprises chromium in an amount of more than 5% by weight, 5% by weight or more of at least one iron family metal selected from iron, nickel and cobalt, the total amount of the chromium and iron family metal being 40% by weight or less, and the balance consisting of zinc; an additional plating layer formed on the principal plating layer comprises at least one member selected from the group consisting of iron and iron- based alloys.
