A metal substrate is fabricated and coated with a catalyst for ozone conversion of atmosphere passing through the substrate. A plurality of aluminum foil sheets that have been slit, stretched and twisted into a plurality of regularly repeating channels having geometrically shaped openings are serially positioned one on top of the other to form a foil stack with channel openings partially blocked by channel walls of overlying foil sheets. Thicker covers with openings at the top and bottom of the stack form a sandwich and the sandwich pleated to form corrugations in a flexible but rigid sandwich substrate. The channel walls are coated with an ozone depleting catalyst which the ozone atmosphere contacts to remove ozone as the ozone atmosphere travels through the stack construction.

Un substrat métallique est produit et revêtu à l'aide d'un catalyseur servant à transformer de l'ozone atmosphérique traversant le substrat. Une pluralité de feuilles d'aluminium qui ont été fendues, allongées et torsadées pour former une pluralité de canaux répétés régulièrement qui présentent des ouvertures façonnées géométriquement, sont placées en série les unes sur les autres pour former un empilement de feuilles ; les ouvertures de canaux de cet empilement sont partiellement bloquées par des parois de canaux de feuilles sus-jacentes. Des moyens couvrants plus épais pourvus d'ouvertures et situés au sommet et à la base de l'empilement, permettent de former un sandwich ; le sandwich est plissé pour former des ondulations dans un substrat sandwich flexible mais rigide. Les parois de canaux sont revêtues à l'aide d'un catalyseur d'appauvrissement d'ozone, avec lequel l'atmosphère contenant de l'ozone entre en contact à mesure que l'atmosphère se déplace à travers la construction empilée, afin d'éliminer l'ozone.
