The present invention relates to cosmetic and pharmaceutical compositions and methods for use of green-light emitting materials. Based on the observed effect of green light on oxygen radical concentration in treated skin cells v. untreated controls, the green-light emitting material can be used as an antioxidant to protect the skin cells against damage caused by oxygen free radicals, as well as protecting the skin against the damaging effects of UV radiation. Examples of green light emitting materials include green phosphorescent or fluorescent materials, such as pigments or minerals.
L'invention porte sur des compositions cosmétiques et pharmaceutiques et les procédés associés relatifs à l'utilisation de matériaux émetteurs de lumière verte, basés sur l'effet observé de la lumière verte sur la concentration en radicaux oxygène sur des cellules cutanées traitées par rapport à des cellules non traitées de référence. Lesdits matériaux peuvent servir d'antioxydants protégeant les cellules cutanées des dommages dus au radicaux oxygène libres et aux effets nocifs des UV. Parmi les matériaux émetteurs de lumière verte, on peut citer des matériaux phosphorescent ou fluorescent tels que des pigments ou des minéraux.
