ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A cosmetic base comprising the saturated hydrocarbons prepared by subjecting a synthetic polyisoprene rubber to a thermally destructive distillation under a reduced pressure, fractionally distilling the distillate to recover a fraction boiling at 155 to 240°C/l mmHg, and catalytically reducing the fraction,and cosmetic composition containing the cosmetic base.
