ABSTRACT A cosmetic container of knock type which comprises cosmetic filling cartridge 9 having push bar 1 affixed to shaft 5 and main body of container 4 which is furnished with extruding chuck 2 which can advance said push bar 1 at a predetermined distance by giving knocking operation to the extruding chuck. Said main body of container is further provided with projection 19 on the side part of the knock shaft 13, longitudinal groove 24 in the axial direction, into which the projection 19 can fit and advance therethrough, and transverse groove 25 in the hoop direction of the axis, into which the projection 19 can fit when the knock shaft 13 is rotated at the advanced position and thereby prevent the retreat of said knock shaft 13, on the inside surface of shaft 3.
