ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A counter assembly for the counting of events is dis- closed. A counter is provided as well as a code detector which receives a coded punch card. Counter control means are operable to control the counter in response to the arrival of a card. The code detector consists of replaceable, pivoted code detector elements, which carry a predetermined code and are adapted to enter holes in the punch card if, and only if, the holes correspond to the predetermined code. The code detector prevents a movement of the card to a counting position unless the code detector elements have entered the holes in the card.
