2073970 9111673 PCTABS00006 A countermass for a recoilless weapon and intended to be placed behind the propellant charge (3) of the weapon projectile (2) and further intended to depart together with the propellant gases that exit from the rear of the weapon when the projectile is propelled forwards. The countermass (5) includes a plurality of mutually sequential and mutually separate countermass bodies (6-11), each of which has at least one gas throughflow passage (12-17). The throughflow passage is adapted to the counter mass body and to its position in the countermass, so that when the weapon is fired, the countermass bodies (6-11) will be accelerated consecutively by the exiting propellant gases, starting from the rear.
