A transmission case comprises first, second and third casings connected side by side. An input shaft and a countershaft are disposed in a first chamber defined by the first and second casings. The ends of the shafts are supported rotatably in partition walls provided with the first and second casings. The side of the countershaft which is located away from the engine extends into a second chamber defined by the second and third casings, in which chamber, an output shaft is disposed. A constant mesh type gear train is disposed in the second chamber for power transmission between the countershaft and the output shaft. The end of the output shaft which is located toward the engine is supported rotatably by the second casing. The end of the countershaft and the side of the output shaft which are located away from the engine are supported rotatably by the third casing.
