Abstract of the Disclosure. A counting device for fish, especially smolt, comprising a pipe that is open at both ends and is adapted for being secured at one end to a vessel containing a quantity of fish to be counted. To said pipe devices are connected for generating a water flow in said pipe, said water flow having a higher velocity at the outer portion of said pipe in a direction towards the outlet of said pipe that at the portion closed to said vessel. At the outlet of said pipe a device known per se for detecting each individual fish is provided.
