ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A coupling element for a slide fastener is disclosed which is formed of metallic alloys into a desired element shape in a discrete formation. The metallic couplig element is provided on its exposed surfaces with a protective film by ionization plating, and alternatively initially with an intermediate nickel plated layer in advance of the formation of the protective film.
