ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An ostomy bag having an aperture in one bag wall through which a stoma can protrude including a coupling element having a lateral flange secured to the bug wall around the aperture and a continuous rib extending outwardly from the flange and away from the bag wall. The rib has a deflectable sealing skirt facing inward and on the opposite side of the rib there is a step formation of substantially right angle shape such that the rib is dimensioned to fit within a coupling element secured to an adhesive pad or dressing.
