The invention relates to a method for coupling low-molecular substances to a starch-derived modified polysaccharide. The binding interaction between the modified polysaccharide and the low-molecular substance is based on a covalent bond which is the result of a coupling reaction between the terminal aldehyde group or a functional group of the modified polysaccharide molecule resulting from the chemical reaction of this aldehyde group and a functional group of the low-molecular substance which reacts with this aldehyde group or with the resulting functional group of the polysaccharide molecule. The bond directly resulting from the coupling reaction can be optionally modified by a further reaction to the aforementioned covalent bond. The invention further relates to pharmaceutical compositions that comprise conjugates formed in this coupling process and to the use of said conjugates and compositions for the prophylaxis or therapy of the human or animal body.

L'invention concerne le couplage de substances de faible poids moléculaire avec un polysaccharide modifié dérivé d'amidon, cette interaction liante entre le polysaccharide modifié et la substance à faible poids moléculaire étant fondée sur une liaison covalente. Cette liaison covalente résulte d'une réaction de couplage entre le groupe aldéhyde terminal ou un groupe fonctionnel de la molécule de polysaccharide modifié issu de ce groupe aldéhyde par réaction chimique et un groupe fonctionnel de la substance à faible poids moléculaire pouvant réagir avec ce groupe aldéhyde ou un groupe fonctionnel de la molécule de polysaccharide en résultant. La liaison produite directement lors de la réaction de couplage peut éventuellement être transformée en ladite liaison covalente au moyen d'une réaction supplémentaire. Cette invention se rapporte en outre à des compositions pharmaceutiques comprenant les conjugués formés lors du couplage, ainsi qu'à l'utilisation de ces conjugués et compositions pour traiter de manière prophylactique ou thérapeutique le corps humain ou animal.
