In a cover (10) made of a carrier material (12) and a sealing layer (18) which faces inwardly in relation to a container (30) on which the cover (10) is used and is made of a sealing lacquer printed on the carrier material (12) to close the container (30) having a shoulder (36), the inwardly facing side of the carrier material (12) has the sealing layer (18) in the form of a print image corresponding to the shoulder (36) of the container (30), and a print pattern (20) made of a sealing lacquer or polymer-containing lacquer is printed on the carrier material (12) inside the region limited by the sealing layer (18). The thickness (b) of the print pattern (20) printed onto the carrier material (12) is greater than the thickness (a) of the sealing layer (18).
