An operator cover is detachably retained on an operator housing. A cover member substantially follows the contour of the operator housing exterior and includes an arcing portion to follow the arcing spindle retainer portion of the operator housing. A retainer clip inserts between the cover and the housing. A stud extends from the cover and inserts into a hole in an arching portion of the clip to secure the clip to the cover member. The clip includes tabs which grip the spindle retainer portion of the operator housing.
