ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A cover assembly for a dump truck comprises a pair of spaced-apart arms extending upwardly at the sides of an open rear body of the truck. A flexible cover is connected to the top of the arms at one end and to the front of the body at the other end. A take up roller is connected to one end of the cover and is resiliently biased to rotate the roller and take up the cover. A mechanism for covering the body is activated by downward movement of the body and comprises a first portion for rotating the arms connected near the bottom end of at least one arm. The mechanism extends to the chassis and cab portion of the truck when the body is in a raised position so that downward movement of the body exerts a force on the first portion of the mecha- nism, rotating the arms towards the back of the body and covering the body with the cover.
