ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The disclosure is of a buoyant, air-filled, plastic cover for swimming pools, large ponds, and the like, and to abutment facilities by which these may be constrained to float on the water (or other liquid) without presence to disarrangement, es- pecially in the regions of skimmers formed in the sides of the pool. For one-piece severe, guid straps fastened to one edge of the pool cover are anchored along the side of the pool, and this edge of the pool cover is provided with abutments which, through weighting, sink the edge portion of the cover so that it rides low in the water, and abuts the pool side wall just below the overflow lip of the skimmer. There is disclosed also a pool cover subdivided into inter- fitting sub-sections, preferably of a rectangular shape. These are provided with coacting marginal abutments which interengage to pre- vent one cover section from overriding another. These abutments are in some cases of sufficient specific gravity to sink the edge portions of the cover sections somewhat deeper in the water than the remainder of the cover, which is airfilled, and of low specific gravity, abutting, or interengaging edge elements are disclosed which mechanically engage in a confining manner, preventing overrid- ing. The edge abutments, in one form of the invention, comprise two blocks, or strips, of a closed cell plastic form, fastened one above and one below the margin of the cover, each of a specific gravity of approximately O.S to O.G. These tend toward a stabilized position, with the upper floating essentially with the upper block above the water level and the lower below the water level.
