A cover for the access port of a utility pole. The cover has a front wall and a pair of spaced side walls extending rearwardly from the front wall. The front surface of the cover has at least one horizontal groove for receiving a flat metal strap for securing the cover to the pole. The front surface of the front wall has a central depression or cavity at the horizontal groove and an end wall at the rear end of the cavity. The front wall has a threaded aperture at the depression for receiving the threaded end of a bolt. The cover is secured to the utility pole by placing the cover in front of the access port of the utility pole, extending a length of metal strap around the pole and the cover so that the ends of the strap overlap in front of the depression in the front wall. The metal strap has apertures at regular intervals along its length. The threaded end of a bolt is extending through aligned apertures in the overlapping ends of the strap and threaded into the threaded hole in the front wall of the cover. The overlapping ends of the strap are forced into the cavity as the bolt is tightened, thereby tightening the strap around the cover and the utility pole.
