An intercepting de-vice (e.g. a furniture coaster device) is placed under furniture (bed, sofa, chair, etc.), other climable object, or the floor adjacent an object to inter-cept crawling arthhropods and other crawling pests. The intercepting de-vice can be used to monitor the pres-ence of crawling arthropods and oth-er crawling pests (such as bed bugs, ants, cockroaches, beetles, spiders, etc.), reduce pest numbers, and mon-itor efficacy of pest control proce-dures. The intercepting device in-cludes pitfall trap surfaces that form multiple pitfall traps.
